Would You Like Someone with the Attributes of Boaz or Ruth?

Who is Ruth? Who is Boaz? Ruth and Boaz are two characters from the Old Testament's Book of Ruth.

The Book of Ruth is a narrative story, which shows hopelessness, anguish, forgiveness, change, spiritual enfoldment, and the marriage of two wonderful individuals who shared the same attributes. In this story the law of attraction is at work.

The characters in the Book of Ruth are Naomi, Ruth and Boaz. Originally, the Book of Ruth was in the Book of Judges. Scholars are unable to pin point the date when the Book of Ruth was written; however, some think that the earliest date could have been during the period when David was anointed King (1 Sam. 16).

Naomi was Ruth’s mother-in law who had left Israel many years earlier with her husband and two sons for a more prosperous life, because their homeland was experiencing a food shortage. So they moved to Moab where her sons married Moabite women, Ruth and Oprah. After the death of Naomi’s husband and her sons, she desired to return to her homeland. Ruth returned with her accepting her religious beliefs.

Ruth was a compassionate Moabite woman who loved her mother-in-law and did not want her to travel alone. Historically, this was not a time when it was safe for women to travel alone. In short, this was a dangerous, arduous journey.

Boaz was a wealthy Israelite who was a family member of Naomi’s husband. He was a very kind man who saw something very wonderful in Ruth the first time he saw her. He recognized her beauty, but he saw beyond her physical appearances and said, “…All my fellow townsmen know that you are a woman of noble character…” (Ruth 3:11).

The story illustrates Boaz's attributes: rich in faith, man of God, wealthy, man of impeccable word, respectable, courageous, kindly, trustworthy..

Ruth's attributes were similar: rich in faith, woman of God, loyal, woman of impeccable word, respectable, courageous, kindly, trustworthy.

Boaz and Ruth ultimately became husband and wife. Their union proved to be of benefit to the whole community. Jesus was the descent of these two, a Moabite woman and an Israelite man.

Rev. Corine Kemp Scott and Rev. Ellen G. Jacobs facilitate workshops on The Book of Ruth and the Law of Attraction: A Blueprint for Relationships. It’s a beautiful story you might enjoy reading it.

“There is a Supreme Power and we can work this Supreme Power through us, as us, and for us. What we call the Drawing Power of Mind is not that of longing for things. Rather, we let go of any sense of longing for things. The Drawing Power knows that things are coming. Longing for things implies impatience and this is not effective.” Authentic Change For A Happy Life by Rev. Dr. Christopher Bazemore.”

  1. This is the first time that I'm learning about the relationship between Ruth, Naomi and Boaz. It sounds like an idyllic romance story, one in which many women dream about from childhood. Is this the Cinderella story of the Bible?

  2. Beloved Dr. Gloria, It's a wonderful story from the Bible. I don't know about you, but I want a Boaz. I guess you can call it a Cinderella story from Ruth point of view. This is one of my favorite stories in the Bible. It's a rich story.
